Founder

Clayton Skaggs, DC

Dr. Skaggs received his doctorate of chiropractic from Logan University and is a McGill Method Master Clinician. He has also studied extensively with pioneers in rehabilitation science and sports medicine including Dr. Vladimir Janda and Dr. Karel Lewit who taught him to “hear and feel the needs of your patients”.

Dr. Skaggs founded the Karel Lewit Clinic in 2003 as the clinical branch of the Central Institute for Human Performance: a multidisciplinary enterprise dedicated to helping people in St. Louis and around the world relieve pain, recover from injury, and improve performance.

Prior to founding the Karel Lewit Clinic, Dr. Skaggs ran a private practice in Clayton, Missouri, and served on eight postdoctoral faculties including at Logan University and Washington University in St. Louis. He has also co-authored numerous academic publications with Dr. George, including one of the largest studies on low back pain in pregnant women.

Additionally, Dr. Skaggs is the founder of the Curious Gap resiliency learning platform and the author of The Power of Doing What Matters, a book dedicated to helping people develop mind-body resilience for life. In his free time, Dr. Skaggs enjoys spending time with family, playing racquet sports, and reading.

Clinical Director

James George, DC

Dr. George received his Bachelor of Science (BS) in Exercise Science from Truman State University and his BS in Human Biology from Logan University. He graduated magna cum laude from Logan University, College of Chiropractic.

Dr. George has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and authored book chapters related to rehabilitation and musculoskeletal pain in pregnancy. He is board certified in acupuncture with specialized training in dry needling. Dr. George is a McGill Method Master Clinician. He consults with clients throughout the country with both in person and virtual evaluations.

Dr. George and his wife are natives of St. Louis and have two boys. In his free time he enjoys the outdoors and playing padel.

Operations Manager and Practitioner

Greg Hauck, ATC, CSCS, NASM-CES

Greg received his Bachelor of Science from Southern Oregon University and a Masters of Education from the University of Phoenix. He is also a certified athletic trainer, a certified strength and conditioning specialist, and a NASM corrective exercise specialist.

Prior to working at CIHP, Greg was the Head Athletic Trainer at the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Club. Greg is passionate about patient and client assessments and care as well as furthering his knowledge through educational courses. In his free time, he enjoys being with his family, yard work, and reading.

Consulting Clinician

William Bunge, DC, ATC

Dr. Bunge holds a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Nova Southeastern University, where he was a member of the swim team. He graduated cum laude from Logan University, College of Chiropractic, and has pursued extensive continuing education in rehabilitation and treatment.

He is a board-certified acupuncturist with additional training in dry needling. Dr. Bunge is also a McGill Method Practitioner and has worked with clients both locally and nationwide.

Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and their dog, Pog, staying active, and mastering the grill. 

Consulting Clinician

Delia Smith, DC, ATC

Dr. Smith is from Kansas City, MO. She received her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Athletic Training from Lindenwood University, where she spent time working with athletes from multiple sports including hockey and gymnastics. She completed her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at Logan University. She is certified and licensed in Acupuncture.

Her professional interests include sports medicine, concussions, injury prevention and rehabilitation, manual therapy, and research.

In her free time, Dr. Smith enjoys figure skating, hiking, listening to science podcasts, and watching hockey — she is an avid Montreal Canadiens fan.
